Chief Medical Officer – Community Based Health Center (Memphis, TN)

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for the clinical vision, quality of care, and provider performance across the organization.

This role will provide strategic leadership while ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all medical services
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives
  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and performance outcomes
  • Oversee provider recruitment, retention, and engagement
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (HRSA, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.)
  • Lead initiatives to improve access to care and patient satisfaction
  • Partner with operations and finance teams to align clinical and financial performance
  • Support the growth and expansion of services within the community

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified in a relevant specialty
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in [State] (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience (Medical Director, Associate CMO, etc.)
  • Experience in community health, FQHC, or underserved populations strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of value-based care and population health
