Duties
- Manage pre-authorization requests by verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary approvals from managed care providers
- Schedule patient appointments accurately while coordinating with medical staff and ensuring optimal clinic flow
- Verify insurance information and perform insurance eligibility checks to confirm patient coverage prior to services
- Maintain detailed records of medical documentation, authorization statuses, and appointment schedules in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve scheduling conflicts or authorization issues promptly
- Utilize medical terminology, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes—ICD-9 and ICD-10—to facilitate accurate documentation and coding processes
- Assist with medical records management and ensure all documentation aligns with office policies and legal standards
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or dental office experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification, and medical coding, including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment
- Proficiency in medical terminology and experience handling medical records is highly desirable
- Office experience demonstrating strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of dental office procedures is a plus but not required
